Scott Hofstra with an important message

If your Representative is on this list, let your views on Common Core be known.

Kentucky Common Core bill needs your help!

2015 Legislative Session is Coming to a Close..Time for the Republican House Members Who Haven't Co-Sponsored HB 33 to Sign On

Due to the winter storms last week the legislature did not meet for the majority of the week. In fact the House of Representatives decided to cancel their meetings for the whole week. They probably will add dates at the end our use some of the veto days. Anyway the 2015 Legislative session is coming to an end. We have a tremendous amount of work to be done.

As you recall we stated that the Democratic House leadership will not allow Republican Rep Tom Kerr’s HB 33 to have a hearing. This bill repeals Common Core. Also as of this writing, only 11 of the 46 House Republicans have signed on to co-sponsor Rep Kerr’s bill. Where are the other 34? We need to show that the Republicans are all united it repealing Common Core. We should have at least 39 co-sponsors of HB 33. Remember this past election when we were told if the Republicans took control of the House, that Common Core would be one of the first things removed. How can that be when they all won’t co-sponsor a bill to have it repealed?
We all need to call the Legislative Hot Line at 1-800-372-7181 and leave a message for those Republicans, I have them listed in the next paragraph, that they need to follow the lead of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and KY Sen.Rand Paul because both have come out against Common Core. These Representatives need to co-sponsor HB 33. If you wish to email them you can do that as well. Usually the best way to reach them by email them is:firstname.lastname@lrc.ky.gov.
Here are the names of those 34 Republicans Reps who have not signed on to help: Kevin Bratcher, John Carney, Tim Couch, Jim DeCesare, Bob DeWeese, Myron Dossett, Jim DuPlessis, David Floyd, David Hale, Mike Harmon, Richard Heath, Jeff Hoover, Kim King, Adam Koenig, Stan Lee, Brian Linder, Donna Mayfield, David Meade, Michael Meredith, Suzanne Miles, Jerry Miller, Brad Montell, David Osborne, Ryan Quarles, Marie Rader, Bart Rowland, Steven Rudy, Jonathan Shell, Jim Stewart, James Tipton, Tommy Turner, Ken Upchurch, and Jill York.
Time is running short. We are asking everyone to contact these Republican House Reps and tell them to get the Federal government and others out of the business of education. Please make these calls or contacts daily if possible.
